State Science Seminar-2015 on the topic- ‘Harnessing Light: Possibilities & Challenges’ was held at Regional Science Centre, Guwahati on 28th August 2015 in collaboration with Directorate of Secondary Education, Govt. of Assam. A total number of 30 students studying in classes VIII- X from 16 districts of Assam participated with their presentation. Each participant delivered their presentation on the above topic for 6 minutes before a panel of judges.
The winner in the Seminar- Shri Himadree Chakraborty of class X studying in Rowlands Memorial High School in Karimganj district has been selected for National Science Seminar to be held at National Science Centre, Delhi on 8th October, 2015. Shri Himadree Chakraborty will represent Assam in the National Science Seminar-2015.
The objective of the Science Seminar is to inculcate a spirit of scientific temper and analytical thinking in the minds of young students.
Prof. Kandarpa Das, Director, Institute of Distance and Open Learning(IDOL) of Gauhati University was present as Chief Guest in the valedictory cum Prize distribution ceremony held in the evening and gave away the prizes and certificates to winners and others. Smt. Bhabani Kalita, Asst. Director of Secondary Education and Shri Pramod Grover, Project Coordinator of Regional Science Centre, Guwahati were also present in the valedictory function.
